About the Conference
Patient R Waiting’s Annual Diversity in Medicine Conference is designed by experienced health professionals of color with the needs of students from backgrounds underrepresented in medicine at its core. For nearly a decade, the conference has created space for aspiring physicians and health professionals to access the knowledge, relationships, and support needed to move forward on their journey.
Throughout the weekend, attendees will gain:

Mentorship and peer support to help overcome barriers to success
Direct networking opportunities with admissions officers, medical and health professions students, and practicing clinicians
The Exhibitors
Each year, the Diversity in Medicine Conference brings together medical schools, health professions programs, and healthcare organizations committed to building a more diverse workforce. Our exhibitor fair gives attendees direct access to admissions representatives, program information, and the people making decisions all in one room.

Roles include event set-up, attendee check-in, event support, and breakdown. All volunteers will receive a conference t-shirt and access to the event(s) you're supporting.

This year we are able to offer the "It Takes a Decade to Make a Doctor" Scholarship provides financial support — covering conference registration, travel, or accommodations depending on demonstrated need — for anyone attending DIM10, including general conference registrants (pre-med, pre-nursing, gap year students, doulas) and high school registrants. Applications opened July 25, 2026. Round 1 closes September 5, 2026, with awards announced September 7. Round 2 closes September 12, 2026, with awards announced September 14.
