DADvocate Cohort 1 Training Coming Jan 2027

Last year, Black men shared their needs, experiences, ideas, and concerns as they support birthing people and babies during pregnancy and postpartum.

We listened, learned, and used their feedback to develop a new DADvocates training.

DADvocates are fathers, brothers, partners, uncles, grandfathers, mentors, and community leaders who want to support healthy families and stronger communities.

As a DADvocate, you will:

  • Learn about maternal health.

  • Gain tools to support families during pregnancy and beyond.

  • Connect with other men who care about maternal health.

  • Get paid training and earn a stipend for helping connect and support families in your community.

About the Listening Sessions

The DADvocates Listening Sessions were created to learn directly from Black men about their experiences supporting birthing people, babies, and families. Through a series of community conversations Black men shared their perspectives on maternal health, parenthood, family support, and the role Black men can play in improving maternal health outcomes.

These sessions provided valuable insight into the challenges, strengths, and opportunities that exist for Black men who want to support healthy pregnancies, births, and families. Participants highlighted the need for education, resources, community connection, and meaningful ways to engage in maternal and family health.

The findings from the listening sessions are now guiding the development of the DADvocates curriculum and training program. By centering the voices and lived experiences of Black men, DADvocates is building a community-driven approach to advancing health equity and strengthening support for families throughout pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.
