This is your opportunity to put your work in front of the physicians, researchers, and advocates who are building the future of equitable healthcare.

Submission Guidelines
The submission guidelines below outline eligibility requirements, abstract categories, formatting standards, and scoring criteria — everything you need to know before completing your submission. Read all guidelines in full before beginning your form, as incomplete or non-conforming abstracts will be returned before review.

This symposium is open to high school students, nursing students, medical students, residents, fellows, faculty, community health workers, and public health professionals at all career stages. Community-engaged and practice-based work is strongly encouraged alongside traditional research.
At least one author must be available to present in person at the symposium on September 25, 2026
Work must be original and not previously published in a peer-reviewed journal at the time of submission
Abstracts previously presented at other conferences or regional symposia are eligible
Human subjects research requires IRB approval or exemption documentation
All presenters must register for the full 10th Annual Diversity in Medicine Conference (September 25–27, 2026)

Word count: 350 words maximum (title and author names do not count toward this limit)
Title: 20 words maximum — sentence case, no all caps, no underlining
File format: Single-page PDF, 8.5" × 11"
Font: Times New Roman or Arial, 11pt minimum
Figures/tables: Up to 2 permitted, must fit within the single-page limit
Your abstract must follow this structure exactly. Non-conforming abstracts may not be considered for review.
Background/Objectives: State the health equity problem you are addressing and your specific research question or aim.
Methods: Describe your study design, population, setting, data sources, and analytic approach. Community-engaged research should describe partnership structure and community involvement.
Results: Present key findings with specific data. Preliminary data is acceptable. Abstracts that state "results will be presented" without actual data are not eligible for award consideration.
Conclusions: Interpret your findings and state their implications for clinical practice, health equity policy, medical education, or community impact.

Abstracts are evaluated on four criteria by the PRW Scientific Committee.
Health Equity Impact (35%) — Does the research directly address disparities, structural barriers, or actionable solutions?
Scientific Rigor (25%) — Soundness of methodology, data analysis, and conclusions.
Originality (20%) — Novel contribution to health equity knowledge or practice.
Clarity & Communication (20%) — Clear articulation of problem, methods, findings, and implications.

Printing is the responsibility of the presenter — on-site printing is not available
Presenters must be at their board during the designated session time block
Award-eligible presenters may be asked to give a brief 2–3 minute oral summary
